I always kind of thought Ethan was covering at that particular segment, at least to a degree. He's the type who would make a play for a waitress, but that comment was engineered on several levels. On one level, I think he was trying to gauge whether or not Giles still has any interest in him.
Then there's that little, almost under his breath, and very bitter, "let's hear it for me," or some such after Giles says he hasn't changed a bit and that he's still "selfish and sadistic."
I'm looking REALLY forward to posting the part of my fic where I get into that section, because Giles getting turned into a demon? Not for any sort of conventional reason that I've heard so far. I'm still a little worried it might be too meta, but....
I'm hoping if I read over the whole darn thing from beginning to end, it'll strike the match or get things going again, or whatever....(sigh). What do you do about writer's block?
