Memorial Day
Memorial Day songs seem to fall into two categories. The first, older, more my mother’s generation than ours, has a woman singing to Uncle Sam that she knows her fella’s got a patriotic duty but that she wants him to come back from the war. The second basically follows this format: war, trauma, trauma, trauma forever.
Why are there no songs with war, trauma, home, maybe therapy, and yes pain from the past but life’s good now?
