I think the problem was that it holds that shot far too long, so I had too much time to think about Jenny. Cutting away and distracting me back to Ethan/Giles would solve that.

But I have so much sympathy and respect for folks who vid. Editing is an art as well as a craft and there's both endless variables in certain aspects (the music one can use, which could be anything) and a limited amount of raw material (pre-existing footage.)

<>i>My old computer (the Toshiba that has always given me problems) is crawling at a snail's pace at the moment, and my newer laptop just doesn't have the links.

Here's a hug, sweetie because computer issues are not fun. This past year with the fire we lost the '08 iMac and thus I lost HUNDREDS of bookmark links for stuff in this fandom alone, not to mention thousands of other subjects; I tried to rebuild some on the laptop, which I never was allowed to use before the fire; now I'm trying to transfer onto the new iMac....

...Whew. I need an aspirin just thinking about it. I'm especially sad that I lost a link to an "AU Tara" video on YouTube (about Tara's childhood; it used clips from Practical Magic and other films, and done in b/w) and I CANNOT find it, on YouTube or in any of my existing bookmarks. UGH

I always feel sad at the end since it's on the scene where the one's power runs out.

i was expecting the usual: a robot runs down and the voice gets slowly disorted, gets deeper, twitches etc (as in S2's Ted and most depictions of that I remember from a lot of tv or movies when I was growing up.) And this scene avoids that...her voice simply slows down, as if she were a human being dying and struggling to find the right words.

And Buffy's kindness towards her, consoling her, staying with her through April's death, her speech about how "proud" Warren is of her, "he didn't mean to hurt you" is so poignant because in that moment she can relate to this "girl" beyond "superstrength"- every word of that dialogue describes Buffy's pain re: Riley. She takes her own pain and turns it around to comfort April, even if she's a machine.

And then comes home to find Joyce's body; ends the season dead and broken herself; then Buffybot (Buffy's "I'm fine" mask) is torn apart right after Buffy is resurrected. And then it's Dawn who discovers both of them and and Dawn's turn to "bear witness"; to stay with the 'bot at her death just as the 'bot tenatively achieves something resembling a "sense of selfhood"; to talk Buffy down from potentially committing suicide a second time.

The whole subject is just SO rich and rewarding.

[livejournal.com profile] punch_kicker15 rec'd an April-Pov fic "The Sun Won't Rise" by Mreeb on Buffyverse Top 5 have you read it?
