Yeah, a lot of advice regarding dealing with grief seems overly simplistic to me. I mean, grief is such a complicated experience in that it draws on all of the contextual variables of the people in question. So, how can saying, "time brings relief," be compassionate? I mean, time can bring relief, in the sense that mental and emotional distance can help keep grief from completely overwhelming the grieving. But when someone's in the throes of it? I say meet them where they are and just sit with them. It's their experience, not ours.
