It's possible the Elliott's and the Dalrymple's, of Jane Austen's Persuasion, were named after an eighteenth-century courtesan Grace Dalrymple Elliott.

You're welcome. I was reading a book on courtesans, saw the name, and immediately wondered if there was a connection to Persuasion. I looked it up, and lo, behold! ;-)
