So we were discussing the definition of mountweasel and got from that to magical tomes where the text included deliberate misinformation. Apparently this is an actual thing with grimoires. So I now want a story where magic does actually work but we think it doesn't because when people tried the spells from books they didn't work.

Yeah, I think it'd work well in a story.

I could also see in BtVS fanfic, maybe where Willow wasn't aware of this phenomenon and tries a spell which backfires. *grin*
