Um. It's an idiom that means, I think I understand where this idea originated and how it developed. I now cannot remember why I said that. I think it was in reference to your fanfic policy, so now I need to go reread that and try to figure out where *I* was coming from.

I also really enjoyed this story that I am actually attaching comments to! The Doctor snarking at River *and* the TARDIS for running off with *each other* just delights me as Doctor and TARDIS are my (non-sexual) OTP for Doctor Who and I also adore River and her relationship with the TARDIS. And I like Maddie and I feel for her problems and I am delighted that someone dumped a kid on Jack and Ianto and just expected them to cope because they are actually pretty cool people.
