Leverage is a good series. It's the basic thieves step in to help where the law leaves off kind of a shtick.
The Fisher King (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fisher_King) is one of my favorite movies. It's set in the present but is sort of a retelling of a Grail legend or the Grail legend works it's way into people's lives.
If you like science fiction at all, I highly recommend the Vorkosigan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorkosigan_Saga) books.
