Story index is here.
“Here's the video,” Xander said, handing over Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures.
“And here are those disgusting orange things you eat,” Ethan replied, holding the bag of Cheetos by one corner, as if even touching them would contaminate him.
“Hey, thanks,” Xander said, flopping down onto the couch. “Shouldn't we wait for Giles?” he asked as Ethan put the video into the VCR.
“Rupert, not being interested in, um, comedy, had other plans this evening,” Ethan said.
Xander, who hadn't realized he'd be alone with Ethan, looked confused for a moment before shrugging. “Missing out on a great movie.”
“I'm sure he is.”
“No need to get sarcastic.” When Ethan turned with a look, Xander added, “What? You think I can't recognize sarcasm?”
“My mistake,” Ethan said, intrigued. There definitely was more to Xander than the others seemed to realize.

Three weeks later and Xander was still picking out the movies. Well, The War Games had taken them weeks to get through so fair was fair. Besides Rupert, not trusting Xander's tastes, was still making himself scarce on those evenings. Ethan was making sure of it. While he'd, much to his surprise, actually enjoyed the movies, he'd been making outrageous claims when describing them to Rupert.
Rupert had been quite inventive when rewarding Ethan for his sacrifice.
That week's choice was The Princess Bride, which was quite good, as far as Ethan could tell around the pit in his stomach. He'd started enjoying Xander's company and what he planned on doing felt like betrayal. But no, the betrayal was all on Rupert's side.
He pulled out a pocket watch and started twirling it, holding it up so it's light would flash in Xander's eyes. “Hey,” Xander said, batting has hand before his face.
“It's my grandfather's pocket watch,” Ethan said, needing Xander's focus on it. He moved it slightly so the light shone one and off before Xander but no longer flashed in his eyes.
“Nice. It's shiny.”
“Isn't it though,” Ethan purred. “See how it catches the light as it spins? Back and forth. Back and forth.” Ethan kept it up for five minutes, until he was sure Xander was under. Now to probe Xander's deepest and darkest desires, presuming so young and naive a lad could have darkness within him.
“Xander.”
“Hmmmm?”
“Tell me, Xander. What is it you want?” Ethan asked quietly.
“Ho Hos,” Xander replied with a blissed out smile.
“Mmm, yes,” Ethan agreed. Time to bring out the hidden sensualist in the boy. “Taste the chocolate on your tongue.” Xander's smile deepened. “Now swirl through the spiraling layers to get at the cream. Lick it all up, Xander. Every last bit.” Xander opened his lips. His tongue was swirling around at the edge of his mouth. Ethan felt disgusted with himself, for what he was planning to do, but pressed on. If someone had to be taken advantage of, it wasn't going to be him.
“Xander, listen to me. There's a desire, deep in your heart. A secret desire. Something so hidden you haven't even told yourself. Tell me, Xander. What is it you most want?”
“Spike.”
Ethan was shocked into replying honestly. “But he's a vampire, a demon, a ruthless killer.”
Xander's expression suddenly grew serious. “I know. He'll never be mine. He'd never want to do anything more than eat me, maybe with the torturing me first, but he moves with a quicksilver grace and, if I did catch his heart, he'd be mine forever. Have you seen how devoted he is to Drusilla? And she's mad.”
“How did you come to fancy him?” Ethan asked, completely off script now but he was too curious to leave it alone.
“It was the love spell. He saved me from Drusilla when she was about to turn me. He shoved me up against the tree and kissed me. He nibbled at the edge of my lips and thrust his tongue deep into my mouth. It lasted a second and went on forever. It...”
“Shhh,” Ethan interrupted. Well, well, this he could use. “Xander, you know you'll never even catch Spike's eye. He's much to experienced to fall for anyone as innocent as you. It's hopeless,” Ethan sighed. Xander hung his head. “Unless...” Ethan added, laying out the bait.
“Unless,” Xander asked, looking out as if gazing at something longed for, just beyond the horizon.
“I could teach you, give you the experience so that, when he does see you, he'll notice you. He'll want you. He'll...” Come on, take the bait pretty one.
“He'll love me?”
