COVID and quitting job

The latest wave of the virus in Bangladesh began about six weeks ago. On 15 May there were 261 new cases and 22 deaths reported. On Friday there were 5,869 new cases and 108 deaths - the country's second-highest daily death toll of the whole pandemic. - BBC

After the CDC director’s statement about “imminent doom” here in the US, I gave 4 days notice at my job rather than two weeks. This type of jump in cases is exactly why. It didn’t happen here but I wasn’t wrong to be concerned.

Oh, and for context, people in my last job did not wear masks. They did not wear masks and would get right in my face so not even a pretense at social distancing.

Very. We know that it's difficult to change people's minds, though, when they have investment in their narrative or who they're choosing to trust.

Truth. I'm still wearing my mask when I go outside. Even though the CDCs saying it's OK to go maskless, I'm not changing my mind.

Right. I have the paperwork filed so I don't have to wear one when I'm doing programming way the hell away from everyone else and it would be good for the kids on Zoom to see my face, but otherwise, no, I'm still keeping it on.
