End arms sales to UAE

US urged to end arms sales to UAE as it backs genocidal paramilitary in Sudan.

Sen Chris Van Hollen and Rep Sarah Jacobs have reintroduced the Stand Up for Sudan Act - which would prohibit U.S. arms sales to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the UAE is no longer providing material support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan.

SFFest38: Prompt Submission

It's Nov 1st, which means it's time to welcome you all to our Thirty-Eighth Small Fandoms Fest! It also means that it’s time to submit those prompts!

The spreadsheet has been edited to remove filled prompts and prompts for fandoms that no longer qualify, but all other prompts will remain in the spreadsheet so you need not resubmit them.

Disqualified Fandoms: Please check the List of Disqualified Fandoms before submitting your prompts to make sure your fandom hasn’t previously been disqualified. as [several] a lot of fandoms have been disqualified for this round and removed from the spreadsheet, including: Final Fantasy XII (game), Prison Break (tv), Revolutionary Girl Utena | Shoujo Kakumei Utena (anime), and Thunderbolts (movie 2025). (More may be disqualified during the prompting period as they are brought to my attention, so please check back if you think your fandom might be too large, aka, 2,000 or more fanworks at AO3.)

November Bingo Challenge

Welcome to our Bingo Round in November 2025. The theme is 'Fairy Tales and Fantasy Stories' (including books, movies, and TV shows).

Under the cut, you will find five groups of prompts, each of them coming with a 3x3 bingo card. Additionally, there will be one 5x5 bingo card that combines all prompt groups.

Feel free to create your own bingo card(s) of any size, skipping the prompts you don't like.

While the prompts are based on fairy tales and fantasy, you don't have to stay to these main themes when filling out your bingo card. You prefer to write crime or science fiction, go wild and have fun.

Feel free to interpret the prompts in whichever way you like.

Any bingo pattern you can think of is allowed as long as you create at least three works in total. Fills can be any work type: drabbles, novels, haikus, poems, icons, wallpaper or cakes, and knitted goods, or a mix of it. Whatever you can think of is fair game.

Minnesota fraud investigation

I'm not even sure what to ask, say, or do about this.

I have services from an ARMHS worker and provide services via IHS and PCA. It's about half of my monthly income.

"The Association of Residential Resources in Minnesota, which represents 200 organizations that provide disability services, said pausing payments for the Medicaid programs could “destabilize an already fragile care network.”

“Pausing payments to legitimate providers for up to 90 days is not an accountability measure, it’s an existential threat to the care infrastructure that keeps Minnesotans with disabilities safe, housed and supported in their community,” ARRM CEO Sue Schettle said in a statement.

Among the 14 affected programs: Integrated Community Supports, Nonemergency Medical Transportation, Peer Recovery Services, Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services, Adult Day Services, Personal Care Assistance/Community First Services and Supports, Recuperative Care, Individualized Home Supports, Adult Companion Services, Night Supervision, Assertive Community Treatment and Intensive Residential Treatment Services.

Database maintenance

Good morning, afternoon, and evening!

We're doing some database and other light server maintenance this weekend (upgrading the version of MySQL we use in particular, but also probably doing some CDN work.)

I expect all of this to be pretty invisible except for some small "couple of minute" blips as we switch between machines, but there's a chance you will notice something untoward. I'll keep an eye on comments as per usual.

Palestine/Gaza

Even though there is ostensibly a ceasefire in place, not enough aid is getting in, Israel is also bombing Lebanon despite the ceasefire they agreed to with the Lebanese, and Israeli settlers beat Palestinian farmers during their olive harvest in the West Bank.

So 1 thing I've been doing is joining a weekly Zoom "Power Hours for Palestine" every Thursday at 9am PST. Feel free to join me. Today we called our reps regarding HR 3565, sent a few letters, and were updated on different things going on. It's hosted by Rising Majority.

Also a Jews Demand Action letter toolkit, signed by many including Spencer Ackerman, Debra Winger, etc.

Since last I posted:

There are now 55 co-sponsors for HR 3565.
27 members of Congress signed a letter urging Rubio and Huckabee to secure the release of 16-year-old Palestinian-American Mohammed Ibrahim from Israel, where he's been held without trial for nearly 8 months.
Mahmoud Khalil is still fighting deportation.

Some things to read/watch:

This PBS Newshour interview with Marwan Barghouti's son, Arab. Marwan Barghouti is often referred to as the "Palestinian Nelson Mandela", and Palestinians have been trying to secure his release for a long time, as it is thought that he is the one political figure Palestinians can unite behind.
