Summary: Angelus' newest Childe is very annoying
Notes: Written for a prompt at still_grrr: The Elements / Fire
“Sire?”
Even as Angelus' hands clenched into fists, he made himself relax. Forcing the Slayer to kill his newest Childe would be so much more fulfilling. “Yes, Xander,” he sighed.
“Why are there candles everywhere? I mean, we're highly-burnable, right?”
“Flammable.”
“Huh?” Xander asked.
“It's highly-flammable, not burnable,” Angelus said as he wondered why he even bothered to correct the Fledge. It wasn't like he'd be around to benefit from the teachings.
“Oh.” Xander blinked a few times, slipping into vamp-face while he thought that through. “Well, that's just my point. Why keep something so dangerous around when we don't need it? One curtain blowing into a candle and we're crispy toast.”
“It's traditional.” Angelus gave it his best this-conversation-is-over growl. Not that it had worked on Xander so far.
“Even if we can't set up someplace with electricity,” Xander continued, “there are camping lights. I mean, yeah, they use a lot of batteries but you must send minions out for candles, what, every night?”
Angelus picked Xander up and threw him against the wall. “You do not question me. Understand?” Xander nodded.
Closing his eyes, Angelus felt for the sun's position. It had barely moved since the last time he'd almost killed Xander. Damn! At this rate, the Fledge wasn't going to last long enough to be killed by Buffy.
