Drusilla strolled through the park, the one she’d met Daddy in just a few short months before, although he hadn’t been Daddy then. He hadn’t been Daddy for a very long time.

Knowing Spike would be unhappy once he’d realized she’d slipped out without him, Drusilla had left anyway. There was only one night in the whole year that she could ask Santa for the gift she wanted most. Spike was sure to try and stop her if he knew what she was about to wish for.

Settling herself on the merry-go-round, Drusilla kicked the ground one, two, three times to set it spinning and gazed up at the sky, waiting until she saw a shooting star flash overhead. Sitting up, she cried out, “Oh Santa, please, I’ve been such a good girl. I’ve killed and tortured and maimed, well not maimed so much because they tended to be dead by then, but I’ve done my best.” She trailed off uncertainly.

A hand patted her on the head, as if she were a small child, and she heard a voice asking what gift in all the world did she wish for most.

“Oh please, I wish I had Daddy back.”
