my new cat

Meet my new cat! I named him Xander. He is the purriest cat I have ever seen. He purrs while he's eating. He purrs while he's drinking. He purrs while he's sleeping. He purrs at the vet, even when he obviously doesn't like what they are doing to him! ;-)

Sadly he has FIV but, from what I've read online, he can still live a long life, although he can't go outside where he could infect other cats. My vet will be back in the office tomorrow so I will be getting more details then. He's got an eye gloop issue and a respiratory bug, but the meds I got from the vet yesterday have already started clearning those up. Otherwise he seems perfectly healthy and he's very, very affectionate. Such a sweet kitty.

Not a great pic, I admit. It was taken by the people who realized he was a stray and livetrapped him. I think his eyes are shut because of the goop in them. Yet another reason I need to figure out what I've done with my digital camera.

Cats will sometimes purr when they are stressed. The vet had mentioned that, but you're explanation of why is helpful. However, since he's also got the happy paws going, I think, at least when I'm sitting with him, that he's happy. Or at least I hope so!

Thanks, he is rather pretty, isn't he. I didn't actually know he was going to be a special needs cat when I brought him home, but he's already in my heart so, yeah, the house is open to him. ;-)
