Confession

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy came out, I think, in the 80's. I've always had friends who think the book is amazing, deep and meaningful even. I've never gotten it. At best I think it's a very silly book.

If anyone wants to share why they think the book is amazing – or if there is actually anyone out there who agrees with me – I'd love to hear it.

I have very special, personal memories associated with the book. I won't ever read it again because I don't want to shatter them, but it is part of a very special time in my life and for that it will always be dear to me.

I've never actually read any of the books; i know Hitch-hikers through the radio series, and the TV version of that.

The US movie was a major disappointment.

I did vote for Marvin the Paranoid Android for Galactic President :-)

That's very sweet.

I'm rereading Mercedes Lackey's early books - the really early ones - mostly for nostalgic reasons.

US movie versions tend to be major disappointments. Sadly.

So it's something like what Louis Armstrong said about jazz? If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know.

Exactly. :D
