A poltergeisty First?

So I'm watching Conversations with Dead People in which both Dawn and Willow are visited by the First except for Dawn's visit there's this whole poltergeist thing going on. I thought the First had no physical aspect, which leads me to wonder how the poltergeist effect came about. Has anyone seen this explained?

I'm going to say the First called in some favours and got a poltergeist buddy to spin some shit.

I could see that. The First was certainly enough of a big deal that something along those lines could have gone down.
