Today is St. Lucy's Day

St. Lucy's Day and yes, I do believe that girl is wearing a crown of lit candles which looks really disturbing here in the U. S.

Is it wrong that now I have the Springsteen song, I'm in Fire, running through my head?

Younger kids usually wear electric crowns (http://www.clasohlson.com/medias/sys_master/8873344040990.jpg) instead, if it makes you feel safer.

It's a weird custom, but I like it. Since it coincides with the Nobel Prize ceremony, the prize winners always get their own Lucia march early one morning, and apparently more than a few of the have been scared half to death by being woken up early by a gang of women dressed in white, with fire coming out of their head, and singing three-part harmony... :)

The electric crowns do come as a relief. ;-)

And I love the bit about the Nobel Prize winners and their own Lucia march. That's awesome.

I remember reading about St Lucy's day in one of the American Girl Kristen books! She wore the candle wreath as well.

I always wondered why the girlfriend in Dracula is named Lucy. It now makes total sense.

That makes perfect sense.
