Doc says I've got a muscle spasm of the gluetus minimus. Name doesn't come close to covering it. Needs words like "ouchie" and "super hurty" and "excruciating." But it should go away on it's own.

I did forget to ask the doctor if pain is associated with loss of appetite. Mine was gone for a few days and only came back about a full day after I started in on the pain meds.

Ok, the image that popped into my head was Tara confronting Spike and Buffy in the hallway. "She was helping me with my muscle cramp," says Spike. "Muscle cramp," Tara deadpans. Then: "In your...pants?"

I'm so sorry you're in pain. I hope it goes away soon!

That too!

(Our culture really is very mean to people who injure their bottoms, because we are all twelve.)

I'm trying to come up with a logical explanation as to why a bottoms injury is funny, and...yeah, it's because we're all got an inner 12yo. :)

Eeeee! I have a cramp in my pants! That totally did not occur to me. I'm so much happier about this now. Well, also because I have pain meds that made if feel significantly less ouchie!

I'm glad you've got pain meds to help take the edge off. Hope the recovery goes well!

Thanks. I just tried the exercise she gave me to pull apart the tense muscle fibers, running a ball across the ouchie parts. It made a huge difference. I'm even limping less!

[identity profile] thisficklemob.livejournal.com 2016-07-30 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! I hope it subsides on its own. S/he didn't give you anything, like a muscle relaxant?

(Of course, it made me think of the one and only time I loved Meg Ryan in a movie, in French Kiss, doing her French Kevin Kline impersonation: "My ass is twitching. You people make my ass twitch." Which is inappropriate, but also appropriate and maybe funny too? Or not?)

They have me pain meds which took care of the worst of the problem.

For more butt jokes ... I need to find a tennis ball and basically rub it between my butt and the floor. Something about breaking up fibers in the muscle? But the pain is supposed to go away on it's own.

Heh heh heh. You're going to be rubbing balls on your ass.

[identity profile] dragonyphoenix.livejournal.com 2016-07-30 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no, I think it's funny!

And rubbing balls on my ass has been super helpful in reducing the pain.

It was probably funny. I've seen French Kiss but it was so long ago I don't remember details.

Relevant bit is at the end of this (admittedly crappy quality video) segment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-jXANe8Eh8

Thanks, that was funny!

Sounds very painful.

It was awful for more than a week. It was getting better but then started getting worse again which is when I went to the doctor. The pain pills helped a lot as did an exercise to break up the muscle fibers. I was actuallly able to sleep on my side, rather than forced to sleep on my back, last night!
