Shadows on the Wind

Kickstarter for a Firefly fan film. The vid is so vague I'm left with no idea of the plot, but the page makes it look like we might see Wash as a kid? I have to admit, I think that would be cool.

I tried getting into 'Firefly' a while ago, but found the first several episodes a bit too libertarian for me. Am I misreading the show?
Also, it didn't help that when asked why there were no aliens in 'Firefly,' Joss Whedon said that he didn't believe in aliens. I totally understand not having aliens in a space show (really!), but that response left wondering how he justified BtVS at all.

I can totally relate to that. Several years ago, I was in a car accident that left me the hospital for two weeks and recovering in my home for four months. There was nothing better than TNG, DS9, and Voyager episodes to get me through that (and thankfully, they were all airing then).

When I'm clinically depressed, I do better with really short animated ridiculousness (Uncle Grandpa; Bob's Burgers; Futurama; etc.). It's not so much the mindless thing as much as the length that helps (and of course nothing that takes itself seriously).
