Kickstarter for a Firefly fan film. The vid is so vague I'm left with no idea of the plot, but the page makes it look like we might see Wash as a kid? I have to admit, I think that would be cool.

I'd say libertarian is a reasonable reading of the show. I first watched Firefly when I was clinically depressed. One of the factors going into that was how miserable I was at work. The idea of being able to fly away from all that crap was appealing.

I can totally relate to that. Several years ago, I was in a car accident that left me the hospital for two weeks and recovering in my home for four months. There was nothing better than TNG, DS9, and Voyager episodes to get me through that (and thankfully, they were all airing then).

When I had that whole SAD depression, I took a look at the BBC Musketeers, which really is not good. But it was just mindless enough and swashbuckley and I enjoyed it for about 4 episodes before I had enough.
