not my problem ...
"We've prevented the Master from freeing himself and opening the Mouth of Hell. That's not to say he's going to stop trying." Um, why is Giles concerned that the Master might escape? He's had sixty years to try and it hasn't worked yet. His best bet occurs once a century and they just stopped it. Why isn't anyone saying that the Master can be someone else's problem?

Head canon wise: Some fabulous Watcher-ness on Giles' part means he alone has a sense of foreboding that this guy is going to be trouble. Hence, that's why Giles is so concerned about the prophecy of the Annoying One. He Just Knows Shit Will Go Down.

It might not be my fault but it is my responsibility.

Plus, of course, he's right. The Master does rise again at the end of the season, and it's very much Giles' and Buffy's problem.

Sure but if they'd ignored the Master problem at the end then he'd still be down there. He says that it's Buffy's blood that frees him. Of course he'd just be working on some other way out.
Thanks, interesting answer.
