A robed figure waved a pale and grayish hand over a 3D map of Sunnydale.

“Let me get this straight,” Buffy said slowly. “To defeat you we have to play … what is that D&D?”

Buffy glanced between her sword and the board. “You know, slice and dice is a time-honored tradition. Oh, wait, time-honored and tradition sort of mean the same thing don't they. Are you sure we can't just fight?”

“Andrew, you're up,” Xander called out.

“What?” Buffy turned but only half-way, just enough to face Xander but still keep an eye on the demon.

Xander shrugged. “You saying you have more experience with role playing games?”

“You get that this is life and death, right?”

“Do not fear, kind lady. Why just last week I defeated the priests of the Dark Sun in the Wars of the Omega, um, kind.”

“Really? Omega Wars? How did you get past the albino?”

“Oh, that was so cool. You have to remember that he's not really …”

“Hey,” Buffy shouted. She glanced between the two boys and then over at the board. “Fine. Andrew, you go play the demon.”

As Andrew approached the table, he pulled a small bag out of a pocket, but before he could remove even one die, light flashed out from the board. “Ow, hey, that smarts.” Andrew rubbed his eyes and then blinked as he glanced down at the table. “Oh, hey, cool. Xander, come check this out. That's me down on the board.” He stared for another moment. “Wait, my avatar is me?” Demons appeared on the streets. “Buffy? I think that maybe it should be you playing.”
