I'd just stated watching Night of the Hunter when I saw this scene which reminded me of BtVS' Caleb.

Seems odd that they'd block an old black and white film from 1955. It's a good movie.

I agree it doesn't make much sense, but it's the only explanation I can think of!

I can't think of any other reason either.
