obliviate

Now that I've finished the final Harry Potter book, I'm going back to the last two movies. I'm not going to talk in detail about them but I did want to comment on Hermione obliviating her parent's memory of her. That is one of the most heartbreakingly courageous scene in the movies. That had to have been so hard for her to do but Hermione, seeing the necessity, did it.

That's an incredibly powerful scene and it says so much about Hermione in many ways (I love that she's so brave and self-sacrifing, but also ruthless. She doesn't ask them for consent - because, of course, they would never ever agreed - she decides for them) Oh Hermione!

Exactly.

I agree. It adds a lot of emotional depth to Hermione's character and proves to us once again why she belongs in Gryffindor.

Yep, she's totally a Gryffindor.
