A poltergeisty First?

So I'm watching Conversations with Dead People in which both Dawn and Willow are visited by the First except for Dawn's visit there's this whole poltergeist thing going on. I thought the First had no physical aspect, which leads me to wonder how the poltergeist effect came about. Has anyone seen this explained?

I always pretend that what he actually meant was that if a vampire breathes a human back to life they come back soulless and demonic.
