Leaping In The Dark
Apr. 24th, 2009 12:15 amLiving is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark. - Agnes de Mille
The first three stories, while part of the same series, can be read as stand-alones without too much loss of information. I'd suggest reading the first story, at least, before the fourth.

How My Love's Song Gently Cries
Summary: “Between soldier boys and the Slayer, getting a mite uncomfortable around here. What do you say to a road trip?” he smiled at Willow. She returned his smile with a look of horror, which only made his smile wider. “Don't worry pet. I'm not going to kill you, not yet anyway. Just ate. Saving you for a snack."

Summary: Angelus and his kills were infamous throughout the demon world. Still, and why couldn't he keep his thoughts off this track, of the three most likely to be imitating his kills, one was dead, by his own hand, and that left... He didn't want to have to kill his Childer.

Love Flies On Broken Wings
Summary: “Enough of that,” he shouted back at the voice as he spun towards the wall, fist ready to shatter the plaster. He stopped himself just in time. This place was entirely Willow's and, even if it was her prison, it was a prison of her own making, with a little, no, make that a lot of help from him. Damaging it would be too much like hurting Willow and he couldn't bring himself to do that. Not again. Not after he'd been the one who'd turned her into that hollow creature. Knew six years ago I couldn't save her, he despaired. What'd I do, get dumber since then?
Timeline: Just after the end of How My Love's Song Gently Cries
Lightening On the Wind
Summary: Willow stopped a moment and thought about that. She hadn't wanted anything specific in a very long time. Oh yes, she put on a good show, displaying what was expected of her – clothes, jewelry, boy toys – but there'd been nothing she'd wanted for herself. Until that night. For a moment, as she looked over at Naomi to answer her, Willow wondered what drove Naomi to work the impossible hours her job demanded. Willow drove herself, and those who worked closely with her, to exhaustion. It was the only way she could sleep at night.
Timeline: At least four years, probably longer, after Love Flies On Broken Wings
Reunion:
Summary: Standing in the tall grass, Willow takes deep, calming breaths while the helicopter blades decelerate behind her. Between her memories of what Spike had done to her and her fears of how her friends will react to her olive branch, the breaths don't help as much as she had hoped they would. In the stillness, Willow can hear the roar of the ocean from the bottom of the cliff. She allows the sound of the waves and the sea scent to carry her fears away.
