dragonyphoenix: Francine from Strangers in Paradise (Francine)

I just noticed that the Headline Awards are in! Prodigal Son won The Rather British Award.

A shot out to all the other winners, especially GilesCandy, double_dutchess, angelus2hot, DHW (darkheartwalsh), feliciacraft, punch_kicker15, Glassdarkly (shapinglight), Littleotter73, Protoneoromantic, and Brutti_ma_buoni.

And I almost missed the banners! So yay! for going back and congratulating other winners because I wouldn't have seen the banners if I hadn't.

So, I was planning to offer congrats in my other post, but LJ has this new LJ person link, different from a regular htlm link, and I was feeling a put put off by it. But I'm going to be brave. All I have to do is actually copy the link from them. I should be able to do that.

Congrats on you Wicked Awards wins to blondebitz, red_satin_doll, spikesredqueen, sueworld2003, baudown, [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip, [livejournal.com profile] thea_bromine, eurydice72, [livejournal.com profile] the_moonmoth, [livejournal.com profile] littleotter73, [livejournal.com profile] rahirah, [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight, [livejournal.com profile] feliciacraft, [livejournal.com profile] darkheartwalsh, [livejournal.com profile] rebcake, [livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy, and [livejournal.com profile] verucasalt123,

Edited 20 Oct 2016: Oops, I'd put in a LJ person for Gabrielle, whom I don't know, rather than VelvetWhip, whom I'd meant. Fixed that.

Ooh, and a delightful birthday present for me, In the Middle of a Mistake is runner up in the Stakes and Chains category in Round 11 of the Running With Scissors Awards.

Congrats to all the winners and a shout out to darkgoddesgege for all the work she puts into RWSA each year.

Sad That You Can't Hear is Runner-Up in the Twosome of Cuteness category at the Headline Awards. Yay!
Many thanks to the judges for all their work and for this delightful description: ‘Sad That You Can’t Hear’ is the epitome of tragic romance. The beautiful writing makes us grieve along with Giles as he mourns his lost Jenny, in a story that brings her vividly to life in so many ways, painfully underlining the gnawing absence at the heart of the story. In canon, we lose Jenny Calendar pretty quickly. This emotional tale reminds us that for Giles, love lasted much longer.

Thanks to restfield for pointing out that Without the Lion is runner-up in the Dark Age Award! They'd gone with Dragon's Phoenix rather than dragonyphoenix and that threw off my search.
Part of the allure of the “Giles as a vampire” genre of fanfiction is the shock of juxtaposition. To see our favorite Watcher turned into a demon beast is horrifying enough without considering what such a foe would mean for those who had to face him. There are many ways to present this change from Watcher to demon, some more effective than others, but pairing the reader’s discovery of the true turn of events along with Willow’s is wrenchingly effective. Willow’s confusion, fear, and mounting horror mirror our own as the story progresses and, though the ending is abrupt, it is not left wanting. The reader and Willow are both left with certainty and despair over the sure course of what will happen next.

Congratulations to all. (I'd list people out but I'm always worried I'll miss naming a friend and upset someone.)

Thanks to Megan for making so many banners on such short notice. Oops, apparently I misread the page!
Thanks to caztalia for making so may banners on such short notice. She could not have picked a better image for my Sad That You Can't Hear banner. I mean, the other one's great too, but this image is perfect for the story.

I want to send a shout out to all the winners at the Sunny D Awards. Interestingly there are a surprising number of names I don't recognize. I obviously haven't been keeping up! But, for those I do, congrats to Sweet Principale, The Moonmoth, Spuffy Luvr, Alice in Kinkland, Teland, Feliciacraft (yay!), Rahirah, Baudown, Ash Carpenter, Brutti Ma Buoni (who always writes brilliant stories), & Sparrow 2000 (and I'm repeating myself but always brilliant).

So I just noticed that “The Revelatory Power of the Feminist Revolution is Obvious, Right?” is a runner up at the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfic Awards. Yay!

I think I've read it before, but Five Calls to Undead Tech Support has my interest if only for the wide and varied crossovers in that one short story, and of course my co-runner-up's (Beer Good Foamy) crossover with Blackadder also sound interesting. And I couldn't help taking a quick break to read it; it's fanstatic.

Oooh, and Liz Marc's Last Train Leaving Wonderland! And oldie but a goodie. And I've been following and loving Rebelrsr's Forging Bonds. Tara/Faith in some sort of dom/sub verse. Excellent.

And yay to Felicia Craft for runner-up as best new author. You go girl!
