One red-gold leaf
Skating on a sudden squall
Falls

The grey squirrel
Rakes leaves over its hoard of acorns.
Buried treasure.

It's been a while since I've written haiku but I remember that it's supposed to have an image or two and that it's supposed to be ambiguous so the reader can put his/her own interpretation onto it.

The fruit
that is never plucked
rots on the vine.

where has your light
gone,
solstice moon?

Fat bees laze
from flower to flower...
Sunday afternoon

I was going through some poetry I'd saved off and ran across these. I wrote this winter before last:

icicle
giving itself away
drip by drip

and got this response from my Aunt Kate:

icicle
making more of itself
with each flake of snow

and this from Kat, note how biting cold has two meanings. Nice job!

popsicle
freezing itself solid
biting cold

And mandielion has compiled some wonderful baseball haiku

spreading across
the open cocoon...
a butterfly's wings

spreading across
the empty cocoon...
lunar wings

even sunflowers
vanish into mist...

sunflowers and
the sound of a solitary gong
vanish into mist

Tigger
bounces ahead and vanishes...
morning mist

new pond...
algae-covered lily stems
tadpole's feast

morning birdsong
lightens my way
to work

spring breezes
carry your scent...
old roses

reaching down
towards the waterbound moon...
spring snow

the light

wind tossed waves...
in the placid depths a fish approaches
the hook

the light mirrored on
green leaves

wet shoes
jumping into the puddle
splash!

slow dancing
swaying in time to
unheard music

tears drip down like rain
and freeze against your icy expanse
winter's chill
