Summary: I tried for exasperated, I really did, but I'd long suspected this wasn't a normal journey, and it had worn me down. First clue? We had to leave through the Lincoln Tunnel, which meant driving halfway across the bloody country before we could even start. Unusual rules tended to be a bad sign. I'd managed to convince her that we didn't need to walk, at least. Walk. Through the Lincoln Tunnel.
Notes: Some of the places in the story, such as the Lincoln Tunnel, the sear of swirly twirly gumdrops, and the Candy Cane forest are taken from the movie Elf.
Notes: Thought I'd be preparing this for Seasonal Spike and Drusilla, seasonal_sd, only to find it's gone. Missed that somehow. :-(

Yuletide Stories

Here's a summary of my Yule stories for 2009. I had originally planned a story where Faith meets Frosty the Snowman, but it didn't get finished. For a long time I thought I wasn't going to write any holiday stories this year and then I suddenly had a slew of them.

I read a prompt over at comment_fic about the line “Fall on your knees” from the carol O Holy Night. I'm always amazed by that line because it suggests that meeting an angel is so awe inspiring that your legs can't hold you up. I started thinking about how different characters would react to meeting an angel. In The Terrible Deadly Good God's Angels Do, it's Drusilla. Ethan meets Angel!Giles in Bronze Angel. Nathan Ford, from Leverage, meets an angel in Blessed Are Those Who Mourn.

The original “Fall on your knees” prompt was meant to be sexually suggestive and I gave it that twist in Fall On Your Knees (Spander) as well as in Bronze Angel (Ethan/Giles).

Journey to the Pole (Drusilla/Spike) is my response to Thanksgiving stress.

A bit of smut slipped into my mind. Making His List (Spike/Lindsey) is the result.

We had a cookie exchange at work and I came up with the idea of Kaylee, from Firefly, making Christmas Cookies.

And one final story, posted on the 25th of December.  Inspired by a prompt at Taming the Muse, I wrote Blackfoot Bertha, which has been described, quite accurately I think, as both cute and creepy.  *smile*
