This was written by my friend Carol, who unfortunately passed away a good number of years ago. She was a delightful person and the world is a little grayer without her.
What Heaven Knows by Carol Miller
Because
I am lucky I
prove this place,
fill myself with
how it
looks,
cannot get
around the fact
this is how
it feels.
Now I know
what heaven
knows.
I forget I
am afraid to
speak,
hold my own
breath, tilt my
head back and
howl.
I kneel
to know
the language.
Because
I am happy I
eat my words,
close
my eyes,
stutter in silence.
Even you are
taken in,
spreading the
word, seeing
what I say.
Because
I am happy
I mind,
because
I am grateful I
won't let
go.
Now I know
what heaven
knows.
Because
I am lucky I
prove this place,
fill myself with
how it
looks,
cannot get
around the fact
this is how
it feels.
Now I know
what heaven
knows.
I forget I
am afraid to
speak,
hold my own
breath, tilt my
head back and
howl.
I kneel
to know
the language.
Because
I am happy I
eat my words,
close
my eyes,
stutter in silence.
Even you are
taken in,
spreading the
word, seeing
what I say.
Because
I am happy
I mind,
because
I am grateful I
won't let
go.
Now I know
