dragonyphoenix: Blackadder looking at scraps of paper, saying "It could use a beta" (frida and god)

Folk singer Juliet Moody got fed up with frowns of disapproval when she fed her baby in public. So she has lashed back with ‘Ruin Your Day (with tits)’.

Title: Missing
Fandom: BtVS
Summary: Giles misses Buffy in L. A.
Note: Written for a prompt at Giles Shorts: change
Rating: G
Characters: Giles
Disclaimer: They aren't mine, not yet, but they will be … once I've taken over the world. Bwah-ha-ha!

Note: Real Change is a magazine sold by people who are homeless in Seattle. I moved it to L. A. for the purposes of this story.

The click of his heels against the sidewalk sounded hollow and insignificant. Surprised he could even hear it over the roar of the traffic, Giles slumped down onto the first bench he found. He'd been so certain Buffy had returned to L. A., her old stomping ground. He stared ahead. The maze of promising possibilities had turned into a mess of dead ends.

“Real change? Hey, buddy, real change?” A woman stood before him, waving a magazine. Lodged behind her, in a shopping cart, he saw piles of bags, presumably all her worldly possessions.

“What? Oh, of course.” He handed over some change and tried to object when she pressed the magazine into his hand, but she merely let it go and moved on.

He checked his watch. There was just enough time to make a flight to Sunnydale if he left immediately. He dropped the magazine into the first trash can he passed, never noticing the title, Real Change, or the article about a gang, unusually fast and strong, possibly hyped up on PCP, and the girl who'd bested them.

Title: Being Weeded Out
Fandom: BtVS
Summary:
Note: Written for Open on Sunday's prompt: key
Rating: PG
Characters: Rupert Giles
Disclaimer: They aren't mine, not yet, but they will be … once I've taken over the world. Bwah-ha-ha!
Note: The title comes from The Roche's “Weeded Out

“Which makes it clear why it is a keystone of Council policy that potential Slayers be removed from their families and trained as early as possible.”

Rupert suppressed a yawn. Potential Watchers were trained in an intensive session the summer before starting university. It was supposed to be difficult but so far Davies hadn't said anything that wasn't obvious.

Robinson raised his hand. “But sir,” he said after being called upon, “what if the families won't release the girls into our charge?”

Rupert gave the lad a pitying look. Robinson wouldn't last a week, not if he kept questioning Council authority. Still, it didn't seem quite right, kidnapping young girls, teaching them nothing more than Slaying, and tossing them aside like rubbish once it became clear they wouldn't be called.

“Mr. Giles.”

Rupert sat up straight, suddenly not quite certain that Davies couldn't read his mind. “Sir.”

“Do you have any problem with the Council position in regards to potential Slayers?”

“No, sir. Of course not, sir.” When it became obvious he was expected to say more, Rupert added, “Protecting the world is more important than any individual life.”

“Very good, Mr. Giles.” Davies glared down at Robinson. Rupert stared down at his notes. Yep, Robinson was definitely on the outs. Rupert felt an unexpected pang of regret. Why should he care if Robinson never made Watcher? It wasn't as if they were good friends.

Title: Feeding Time
Fandom: BtVS
Summary: Running a demon bar is more difficult than you'd expect.
Note: Written for Open on Sunday's prompt: key
Rating: PG
Characters: Willy
Disclaimer: They aren't mine, not yet, but they will be … once I've taken over the world. Bwah-ha-ha!

The tie dyed t-shirt was the brightest Willy had ever seen. He glanced around the bar. Yep, every vamp in the place was looking over at the kid. “Hey man, I'm looking to score a key.”

“A key?”

“Yeah, you know, mary jane, pot.”

Willy glanced about nervously. None of the vamps had moved yet but they were gonna if he didn't get this kid out of here. “We got nothing illegal going on in here.”

“Come on, dude, this part of town? You've got to be a little bit shady. Not to worry. I'm cool.”

“It's not shady in here,” Willy said, “so much as dark, real dark. Dark enough that you should leave.”

“Now, now, Willy. If he's got the cash, why not let him make a deal?”

Oh great, Willy thought as three vamps surrounded the kid. Not just vamps, but fledges. At least the kid never knew what had hit him. They were on him before he could move, two at either side of his throat and the other feeding from his wrist. “Hey, hey!” Willy shouted. “No feeding on the premises. If you're gonna do that, take it out back.”

The vampires let the body drop to the floor. They'd been messy, tearing into the skin. Blood started pooling below the body.

“Hey, and I just cleaned that, um, last week.”

The three vamps laughed on their way out the door.

“At least take the body,” Willy called out. They didn't. He hoped the Slayer got them and soon. Maybe she'd pay him if he tipped her off?

A Fyarl clambered out of a back booth and said he'd take the body. “Fifty bucks,” Willy said.

As he went to the back for a mop, Willy pocketed the cash. When he came back the drips of blood that had been pooling under the body were smeared out toward the door. “Hey,” he shouted to the retreating Fyarl, “no trails of blood leading back to my place.”

Title: And If My Love Had Never Let Me Go 3/15
Fandom: BtVS
Prompt: 400 - Mahogany
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Summary: Trekker wrote a series called In Another Life where Rupert went back to the Council but never broke up with Ethan. In the chapter “The Dark Age, Postscript”, Ethan is drawn into a universe where his and Rupert's relationship had ended. It was such a fascinating idea I couldn't help but play with it. This is a remix of that chapter.
Note: The story shifts between the two verses but headers are included to orient the reader.
