Oh bite me!
Feb. 15th, 2015 02:16 pmWe've got twenty-something mph winds out there. Wind chill is way below zero. So of course my heater is having problems again. I do have a work around. I can turn the heater itself off and then back on to get the heat kicking in. As long as that keeps working. Given that it's a Sunday and tomorrow is a holiday, unless the heater dies completely I won't have someone in the middle of the week. The off-hours guy is swamped; apparently everyone's heater is dying today.
Rassm-frassm heater picking the rassm-frassm coldest days of the year AND a weekend / holiday to boot! to break down.
The repair guy says it has something to do with the winds. The heater needs air to kick in and the drafts are taking that air away? I didn't quite follow. Plus the heater is indoors so I'm not sure why that would be a problem. Given that the winds have been around 10mph and are about to jump to 25, that doesn't look good for the heater starting to work without help again soon.
Edit: 2:42. I just noticed the heater has turned itself back on.Yay!
Edited @ 4:04: Aaaaand, it's not working again. I tried turning it off and then on again a half-hour ago. Nothing. I'm trying it again before calling the repair guy.

Fic: Shanshu 18 - The Play's the Thing
Feb. 15th, 2015 07:26 pmTitle: The Play's the Thing
Fandom: BtVS
Prompt: 448 - Rabies
Rating: PG
Summary: Part 18 of Shanshu
Word Count: 1718
( Wells was proving to be a difficult target. Not in terms of tracking, which had been as straightforward as Mona had expected, but he was never alone. He'd remained at the Jenkin's school until shortly before dusk. Unexpectedly he'd driven off with an entire busload of girls, students presumably but, if they were students, then the school didn't have any kind of a dress code. A number of the girls were in shorts and one even seemed to think she was Daisy Duke. It wasn't what Mona would have expected from a purportedly upper-class institution. It also had a more international flavor than Mona had been expecting. Even from two streets down she could identify mannerisms from Africa, South America, and East Asia. What was this school? )

more on the heater
Feb. 15th, 2015 07:38 pmOkay, so the guy made the call. And damn he was young! 28 but he looks younger. The control panel is sending a signal to the inducer intermittently. So they are supposed to contact me tomorrow with parts availability and price although he is suggesting the heater be replaced. It's 21 years old which I suppose is a good lifespan for a heater.
Since tomorrow's a holiday, most likely no parts then. The timing of this thing sucks.
