Yup.

And we both know that love and hate are two sides of the same coin; that it's true "you always hurt the ones you love"; as my therapist explained re: my partner and I, part of why we argue is the fact that we feel safe enough with the other person to do so.

It's the "pack" scenario going on here and in EP that's largely the problem; esp when Buffy continually forgives and judges herself based on how her friends judge her. very true to real life - are the writers critiquing this dynamic, merely observing it or going along with it? It seems to be a bit of all three. And it seems to shift depending on the head writer for any given episode.

I was watching a featurette for Chosen the other day on YouTube and Sarah says that at the end Buffy "learns" to appreciate her friends and maybe that's out of context but when was that ever in question? Not in my head at any rate.

In any case I don't understand either the "the SG are the bestest friends evah!" or "the SG are the evilest evil that ever eviled!" stances because it's more complicated than that. It's a bit of both.
