In the Morning of the Magicians is pretty new to me too, but it just blows me away. It really is exactly how that must have happened.
I'm also new to Trekker's work but read through pretty much all of it that I could find in one fell swoop. There is a Willow/Giles story where Rupert is pregnant which plotwise just sounds like "no" - or at least to me it does - but actually works very well.
