Actually that is a good prompt for his calling. I had sort of started with the idea of him being bound by religion but then had lost it as the story progressed and had to work it back in at the end. It did make for a very vivid image. ;-)
Not being Christian I don't have a Bible at home so I read for quotes online. I fudged a bit, condensing and changing the words as needed to make them work in the story. And I identified the one because I wasn't sure that specific line read as a Bible quote and I wanted people to get that it is.
