BtVS Rewatch, Season 2: Passion through Go Fish

After a break to watch Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and the last two DVDs of season 3 of Warehouse 13, I'm back to Buffy.

Passion

1. Angelus on passion. Open its jaws, and howl? I don't know. Sounds odd. How about How's Moving Castle instead?

2. A guy stalked me once. Part of it was weird because he moved the chairs on my back deck as if he needed them to climb off the deck, which I can't imagine he would have. I guess he wanted me to know he was there? Lucky for me, he was one of those new at it stalkers who gives up easy. I saw him out front once, waiting in a truck, and I went back inside mostly because I needed to bring something else out to my car, but he must have thought I'd called the police because he went away and never came back.


3. Now I want a fanfic on The Adventures of Sunshine (Miss)


4. Drusilla: help to destroy our happy home. Wouldn't it have been great if Spike had gotten to Jenny first and helped her to resoul Angelus?


5. Jenny's uncle Enyos was a good customer in the magic store? The store that's in, as far as we know, Sunnydale? So, what? Enyos has been in Sunnydale since the beginning? I guess that explains how Jenny could take off for the summer to hang at Burning Man.


6. Why doesn't Jenny work on this special project at home? Does the computer teacher really not have a home computer?


7. And Jenny's fleeing Angelus and she runs against a locked door. Who locks a school door so it won't open from the inside? Much like Flutie locking the school gate in season 1, that has to violate a fire code or something.


8. Buffy: I made a mistake. No. You didn't. You couldn't predict that a gypsy curse would turn him evil.


9. Hmmm, and Joyce doesn't wonder why Giles calls to tell Buffy about Jenny's death? I think she's a bit too accepting of Buffy being close to a teacher.


10. There's a drawing of Jenny at the scene because the cops didn't take it as evidence?


11. Xander: Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Wow, whoever made this movie was terrified of strong and sexually confident women.

12. And now I'm wondering how often Buffy punches Giles. There should be a video.

Killed by Death

1. And now for the creepy German death-monster interlude.


2. Joyce: Yeah, Buffy just wigs on hospitals. Ever since she was a little girl. Willow: What happened? Joyce: She saw a hospital. It gave her the wig. There really wasn't a story there. self-referential much?


3. Joyce: I'm sorry, I, I babble when I'm nervous. Who doesn't babble on this show? Oh, I know, Miss Kitty Fantastico. And she died in some type of horrible accident. Joss, unfair to non-babblers!


4. I love that they're on the wrong track at first with them thinking the doctor is the culprit. The Scoobies so often make huge intuitive leaps that are luckily right, it's nice to see them be wrong for once.


5. I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut.


6. So the basement access is off of the children's ward AND it's unlocked?


7. It's just awesome that the demon puts his hat back on before feeding. Surely Miss Manners would disapprove.


8. Buffy: I wanted crunchy peanut butter. Joyce has the patience of a saint.


9. And while we're on peanut butter: Ethan: Chunky and creamy. Oh, no, sorry, that's peanut butter.

I Only Have Eyes for You

1. Channeling my inner Cordela: Is Buffy really wearing gold-colored leather pants?


2. I'm sort of bummed that Buffy didn't ask the guy at the Bronze out. He seemed nice.


3. Snyder: I'm gonna look at all the pieces carefully and rationally, and I'm gonna keep looking until I know exactly how this is all your fault. Conclusion first; make the evidence support what you already believe. Do you notice that's exactly what Buffy and Giles do in this episode?

5. The kids laughed at Willow's computer geek joke? I don't buy that. Also, is it supposed to be incomprehensible or is it just me? two-digit, multi-stacked conversions and primary number clusters. Okay, she mentioned binary coding earlier so maybe the two-digit bit refers to that.


6. Willow gives Giles the rose quartz and says it's a healing rock. Yeah, but roses, love.


7. When the locker monster grabs Xander … Why does Xander have a noose hanging in his locker?


8. Giles: “You just shot a woman.” Way to know the names of the people you're working with Giles.


9. “Nuke the school.” My Dad, who taught high-school, used to sing this: Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play, where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and schools are burnt down everyday. Home, home in paradise …


10. Mrs. Frank telling George they can never have a normal life together. Oh yeah, that doesn't resonate with the Buffy and Angel relationship, not at all.


11. You know, I'm enjoying a number of these episodes more than I expected to. When I first watched the series, it was just after my mother died so watching was more about distraction.


12. Angelus doesn't stay to fight Buffy after the kiss. I'm guesstimating because he's overwhelmed by love.


13. What excuse do you think Giles uses to get the whole swim team into that cage?


14. Xander pulling Buffy up from the sewers totally wouldn't work. He's leaning so far over he should have fallen in with her.

Go Fish

1. There are no girls on the Sunnydale swim team? Is there a separate girl's team?


2. So in the sewer when Giles pulls a gun on a rat, do you think Buffy is embarrassed for him? Also, why did he bring a gun? It's not like they're useful against demons. Remember from the start of the series when Willow asks why they don't call the cops and Buffy says they'd only bring guns.
