can't watch the vid right now for technical reasons but "early versions of the Old Testament" made me snort - sorry - the original/canon text says clearly she was African/dark (no specific country of origin, though Ethiopia is a reasonable geographic assumption). IIRC (I was six when we learned this) his sister was pissy about it, but much was written in later times about how that's not what she meant really, both from anti-racists who tried to make Miriam less creepy, and racist people who came up with some insane theories on why the word for African was clearly stated, but somehow it meant something else. Sigh. Anyway! Much unhidden debate storming about, with simplified versions taught to the children. Level of racism depends on individual school/teacher ;)
sorry if everything I said here (other than my personal school experience) is old news, like I said, cannot watch vid right now - was just amused with memories :)
