I worked out the problem with my other story. The conflict between mother and son was too generic.
Background: She'd dated a married man who left her after she'd gotten pregnant. Eighteen years later is the timelines of when these stories occur. As Infinity comes out of his shell, making friends, his mother Connie fears he'll leave her just like his father did. The story's gelling now that I know what the conflict is. ;-)
