Fic: Shattering Like Broken Glass

Original story, mostly me trying to play with metaphors, written for the Open On Sunday prompt of plastic, but not posted there because it's not a BtVS story.
Light through the stained glass splashed ribbons of color over the pews, the red, brilliant and bright, pooling like blood. As her fingers brushed over the colored panes, she recalled how the glass windows of her childhood had, over the years, given way to plastic, less breakable but also less beautiful. The same sunshine that scintillated against glass, shimmering with brilliant bursts of light, merely shone through plastic. But glass broke easily. It was fragile and ephemeral. Like life.
Raising the gun, she waited until the priest was in her sights: fragile and ephemeral. Her finger moved against the trigger.
