Why is Giles having his texts scanned?

In the eight episode -  i, robot ... you, jane - why is Giles having his texts scanned? Jenny makes some comment about an index and a database but Giles hasn't gone near it. Given how much of a Luddite Giles is, the database is obviously not for him. He has no interest in using it at all.

I am so feeling the need for a Kali icon right now.

I think our culture needs a Kali and we lack and equivalent - "femme fatale" isn't the same thing.
