The first time I watched it, when the giant hand came out, it was so different from what I expected the ancient ones to look like that all I could think of was a giant muppet hand. So, now, every time I see the movie, I think of Empire State Building sized Kermits and Miss Piggys stomping through the city and crushing tiny mortals under their feet, and people screaming in terror as "Wakka wakka" echoes across the landscape.

I suppose it was an idiosyncratic reaction but I was just so disappointed with the ancient ones. Personally I think they shouldn't have shown the ancient ones at all, but then some people definitely would have been leaving the theater unsure if Joss had killed off humanity or not. ;-)
