Have you tried downloading Ccleaner and running it? Usually when a computer runs slower it's because it is being bogged down by problems in the register or a giant amount of unnecessary files building up on the hard drive.

The program is free and I use it all the time and it keeps my laptop running as new even two years after I've bought it.
What antivirus program are you using? If it's AVG it might be slower your computer down a lot.
One of mine has CCleaner. I ran it last night. No help there. The other is so bad I can't download but it's still under warranty I believe so I'll be contacting Dell after I get back from vacation.
The one computer should be under warranty so I have hopes of getting it fixed. The other is the only one that works with my printer. Currently 1/2 hour to print about 14 pages and it's a fight. Having to turn the computer off and then on again. Ugh!
Thanks. It has been rather frustrating. On the other hand I am used to library Internet only. My old laptop always slowed down with Internet access. *sigh*
Thanks. It may come down to only getting on the Internet at the library. That was the only way I could get my old computer to run at a decent speed. *sigh*
Thanks. At this point it can't even run Windows. I'm going to have to help Dell support and hope they don't think it's a Microsoft issue. *sigh*
Worst case scenario I take it to the local computer repair shop. That will get it working again and at least speed it up temporarily. I may have to go back to doing all my Internet through the library, which is annoying but on the other hand there's a lot less to distract me at home what that's the case.
