Clueless witch?

In The Witch, when Lishanne's mouth vanishes, they make a big deal to point out that Amy was as shocked as anyone. I still don't get why Amy (Catherine in Amy's body) would be shocked. She's the one who did the spell.

In the show, if I remember right, they assumed it was because she did not know the harm she was doing others. But, I think that the character herself was pretending to be shocked so that others would not suspect her as being the witch and/or knowing what she was doing.

I think it makes sense that she would pretend to look shocked so that no one would suspect her of foul play.
