Never Kill a Boy on the First Date
Vampire before him. Vampire behind. “Damn.” Giles, master of understatement.
And I always adore watching Willow and Xander barricade the door. Xander takes a lampshade and tosses it on the pile as if it'll do anything. Granted, I'd probably do worse, but it still cracks me up each time.
The Pack
When the guy shouts “Lance” and the chimp looks up always makes me think of this:
I Robot, You Jane
James Norwood Pratt, in All In This Tea, on something to do with tea, related to tea drinking I think: “the same experience that, let us say, Queen Victoria had 150 years ago …. This is a kind of living archaeology. We are resurrecting flavors and experiences that bind us back because these were shared by generations before us.” The sentiment reminds me of Giles' narrative about books being smelly and thus rooted in the past.
Giles: “I'll see you anon.” Oh come on, Giles doesn't speak that way. You only made him say “anon” to make him see more archaic in contrast to Miss Calendar.
The Puppet Show
Cordelia's song: “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.” Doesn't that just sound like Cordy?
Marc's lovely assistant is still in the box. “You were supposed to leave.” I can see why he didn't use her brain.
“Like a cat.” ;-)
I adore watching Xander with the puppet. “I'm completely inanimate.” “Redrum. REDRUM.”
When Buffy is backstage looking for Morgan, there's a picture of a creepy looking demon on the wall behind her. I've never noticed it before.
Same scene: Snyder warns Buffy about the danger but then lets her continue wandering alone backstage? This doesn't seem likely since he'd kicked her off campus after school earlier in this episode.
Buffy trapped under the chandelier. Snyder was right! It is dangerous.
For a smart guy, Giles really does just walk into that trap.
avant-garde theater *grin*
Nightmares
Does anyone else think that the Anointed, Billy, and that little boy that Adam meets are all of a type: young boys, white, dark hair. Seems odd.
The amazing history professor switch. In “The Puppet Show”, it's Miss Jackson. In this episode, it's some nameless guy.
Everyone's nightmares kept reminding me of my “Nightmares” chapter of my Giles as the Big Bad story. Unfortunately since I'm currently editing “Never Kill a Boy”, it's going to be quite a while before I get to play with this episode some more.
I hate it when Buffy's Dad tells her she's a big disappointment.
Out of Sight; Out of Mind
“This girl's sort of petty for a god.” I take it Buffy's never read any of the Greek or Roman myths. Or the Bible.
Why is Cordelia trying on her dress in the school? Wouldn't she do that at home?
The Codex is “reputed to have contained the most complete prophecies about the Slayer's role in the end years.” End years? Uh oh.
The actress who played Marci Ross was also in Carnivale, which is an excellent series. It has this whole good vs. evil thing going. The evil guy's the priest. Shocker, right? My only issue with it is that neither the good nor the evil guy gets to choose which side he's on. It's predetermined. Sort of bugs me. Also, when the priest realizes he's evil, he just goes with it. I think it would have been more interesting if he'd resisted. Well, no, the series is very interesting as is, but I still wish the priest had resisted his evilness.
After Cordy has changed into her dress, Marci drags her up into the ceiling? When did she get super strength on top in invisiblity? And see, this is the exact trouble I have when I'm writing original fic. I see something that just doesn't work and then I get stuck 'cause I don't know how to get around it.
The May Queen event is at the Bronze that evening. Nobody's there during the day prepping? I don't know, say putting up decorations or getting the sound set up?
In the class of invisible kids, how does Marci know which seat is empty?
Prophecy Girl
There's a prophecy that Buffy will die. Last night I was futzing around on youtube and ended up watching scenes from HP's Deathly Hallows part 2 (which apparently I never watched). Anywho, right there, Dumbledore says Harry must die. “Yes, he must die. Voldemort himself must do it. That is essential.” Not sure it means anything. I just saw the parallels.
So Buffy has on a leather jacket over the white dress and I'm expecting it to be Angel's jacket but it's awfully form fitting, coming in at the waist, and shorter than Angel's would be. I don't have anything to say about it, just wasn't what I'd expected.
“Mind if I come in.” I so adore Xander in this scene.
So Angel pulls Buffy from the water and then he's holding her, and he's panting while he's holding her, right before he says he has no breath. *snicker*

I know! It was so obvious.
