dragonyphoenix: Blackadder looking at scraps of paper, saying "It could use a beta" (Francine transcendant)

I saw two more snakes today. Over at Riverbend Park, I was sitting on the root of a tree and looked over at the river and - aaaah! - there was a snake there. Its tail vanished down into the roots and its body rose about three inches above those roots and its head was raised just above the water. I sat and watched until it vanished down into the roots.

And then I saw another snake hanging from a branch. The branch was about 7 or 8 feet up. I’m not sure how the snake got up there or how it was going to get down. The branch went up even further to a tree that had few branches below and so was mostly a straight trunk down.

*laughs* I thought it was cool, once I got over the surprise of a snake being right there! Okay, it wasn't that close but it was sort of surprising, especially given how long I'd been sitting there before I noticed the first one.

I certainly was careful where I stepped after that. I didn't want to find a third with my foot!

That would be surprising at first, but also cool to see.

Exactly. Someone on Tumblr said some snakes can climb trees. I never knew that. I thought they stuck strictly to the ground.
