dragonyphoenix: Blackadder looking at scraps of paper, saying "It could use a beta" (snoopy xmas)

If I'd known the post office had Charlie Brown Christmas stamps, I wouldn't have used up the Elvis stamps on my cards.

Those look so cute.

They do, don't they. Every year I buy holiday stamps, except last year there didn't seem to be such a great selection, which is why this year I didn't pick any up until after I'd stamped most of my cards.

Heh. I thought about getting holiday stamps, but then I decided the writing and the putting in the post were the key parts of the thing, and if I waited to get thematically appropriate stamps, those parts might never happen.

I'm iffy on appropriate cards, too. It's not that I object to actual Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Solstice/Holiday cards, but I usually just don't like the options much, so if I'm going to buy some -- as opposed to use the ones charities send -- they're going to be images I like, rather than something that visually says December Holiday.

Sending a photograph card of a bird of prey is totally festive, right?

(Plus specific holiday cards would mean I'd have to have a count of people who celebrate particular holidays in my head, and I don't.)

(And I know it will look like I just sent whatever blank cards I had on hand, but I actually do go out and buy these inappropriate cards for holiday sending.)

Most of my family is Christian, friends tend to be Pagan, and I don't have a huge list I send out to. Plus I just adore the holiday tchotchke so I actually like sending out the cards.

I'm liking sending the cards this year, because instead of just, "Happy _____, [signature]," I'm adding personal comments and sometimes doodles. Which is fun, but means I'm still working on my very small list. :)

I didn't doodle but I did write to almost everyone. It was a pretty small list. ;-)

Yeah, I have a difficult time finding cards I like. I tend to buy in bulk when I do, which is why I haven't had to buy cards for years.

Oh, bird of prey. I think that'd be great card to get. And all you have to do is write something holidayish on the inside and then it's a holiday card. ;-)

Right? That's exactly what I do. :)

Maybe I'll try that next year. I am - finally! - running out of traditional cards.

I bought two books of Charlie Brown stamps. Now I'll get to enjoy them for months, mostly when I pay bills. ;-)
