Thanks for posting this. I had never heard of Jane Elliott or this experiment before.
Oh, man, I looked on wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Elliott for more background on this, and there's this:
An often-quoted letter stated, "How dare you try this cruel experiment out on white children? Black children grow up accustomed to such behavior, but white children, there's no way they could possibly understand it. It's cruel to white children and will cause them great psychological damage."
So much amazing white privilege on display there, I have no idea what to say about.
I hadn't heard of this either. There was a post going around Tumblr so I looked it up. It's pretty shocking. I certainly wouldn't want to go through that! I don't believe I understood - and I probably still don't - how much cruelty people of color put up with.
And, yeah, amazing amount of white privilege in that letter!
