Day 11
Share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Some years back, because I had undiagnosed anemia, my social life had evaporated due to lack of energy to keep it going. My job was highly dysfunctional. I was stressed through the roof. Then my mother died. It happened less than six months after her brother, who'd been living with her, had passed away. I became clinically depressed to the point where I was looking at knives and thinking about stabbing them into my arms, more in a "this is possible" than "I want to do this" way but still.
Susan lent me Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs, one season at a time. From there, needing more distraction from my grief, I discovered fanfiction and started writing.
Writing fanfiction was one of the few thing bringing me joy in those days. It still thrills me. Since then I've written hundreds of stories, have won at NaNo five times, and have a goal of getting a short story published this year. And, okay, therapy was a great help with that but way to turn my life around!
