That bit in Coffin City. The first bit I really like about that is how Xue Yang's feelings for Xiao Xingchen parallel those of Wei Wuxian for Lan Wangji. OK, so at some point, sorry but I don't recall where, Wei Wuxian says he likes Lan Wangji because "He's my equal." In tricking Xiao Xingchen into killing the innocent, Xue Yang is trying to make Xiao Xingchen into his equal, to bring the man down to his own level of depravity. Granted,it's twisted, but he wants to corrupt the man so they can be together as equals.
But my favorite part is that the story takes Xue Yang, who's a totally batshit crazy killer, and show you the wounded child driving his actions. It's just so amazing! Really, blew me away. And I'm almost up to that bit on my rewatch so I get to see it again. Soon! Yay!
