Thanks for sharing this - he explains things very clearly. Only an idiot would choose not to be vaccinated, IMO, unless there were very strong medical arguments the other way.

Other variants will come. Viruses are notorious for mutation. Stay safe and well!

I like Dr. Campbell's explanations. I've been following him through the whole of the pandemic. And I'm also concerned about further mutations. I have one friend, Donna, who didn't get the vaccine but her immune system was taken out by cancer treatments. As the vaccine works with the immune system, it wouldn't do her any good. She's of course been careful about diseases even before the pandemic. Her husband Bill is a pastor and is still holding services online even though everything's open here.

I heavily disagree with everything being open. I'm about to switch back to ordering my food and having them put it in my trunk at the grocery store. And I'm about to tell my Dad to do the same.

I'm sorry your friend is in that category of people for whom vaccination would be a very bad idea. Her safety is why all of us who can be vaccinated should be.

We are opening up excessively here too. I cannot trust our government in the slightest - we are still being very, very careful.

I don't understand why people are refusing to get the vaccine. I can understand if someone is not able to get one for medical reasons and their doctor has advised them not to get a vaccine. But with so many options available, there's no reason why people aren't getting one. Although I do understand in some areas, people might only be offered one type of vaccine.


Especially with how scary COVID is.

It's often a chain of trust issue. And for certain communities, who have been used as experimental subjects without their consent, or who have to fight medical -isms or care that has not been ever designed or adapted to their bodies, they want someone they trust to tell them that it's okay, to answer their questions, and to show them that it's okay. They'll be willing to get vaccinated, once there's enough trust to get it.

For others, the people who don't have that history, the people they trust are usually connected to grifters and liars who have plenty of incentive to spread misinformation and fear to their followers (it's profitable for them), even though most of them are already vaccinated. The whole thing's possible because they've done a significant amount of groundwork in the years before laying mistrust of government and politicizing everything into an us (glorious society with proper religion) versus them (godless know-it-all better-than-you atheist scientists) situation.

At least, that's how it is in the States. Your jurisdiction may vary.

That's a really good point. "used as experimental subjects without their consent" That had not occurred to me even though I've been aware of that issue. I'd been thinking of the people who listened to and believed Trump.

They are loud and vocal and have a lot of people who will enable them, at least until something smacks them upside the head and gets them on board, but they're also a minority, as best I can tell, compared to people who need someone trustworthy to talk to, or people who need getting vaccinated to become convenient enough that they don't have to miss a day of work, or don't have to travel to very far away places, or they don't have people asking about the insurance they don't have, even if the vaccine is free. That kind of thing.

And I'm frustrated with the government. The county I live in is above the numbers where the CDC says we should be masking up again. Are we? Nope. The county officials are "looking at the numbers."

I was rather upset with how my province is rushing ahead with the re-opening phases when we're clearly not out the woods yet. And our number of cases are on the rise. Whilst it's largely among those who not vaccinated, the fact that the Delta variant is as contagious as it is, is really worrisome. I still wear my mask and try to maintain social distancing but it's getting harder and harder to do as more and more stores don't have to enforce either.

Stores and restaurants here are starting to have signs asking people to wear masks but it's not enforced. The grocery store had many more masked people this week but I was just in Chipotle and no customers (other than me) were masked.

I'm starting physical therapy for my knee and one of the reasons I picked the PT that I did is that I know St Clair Hospital system has continually masked up since the pandemic started. My chiropractor office isn't masking up. I'll see how the PT goes; I may just stop the chiropractor if the PT goes well.
